Tuesday: Today’s class is focused on writing and creating. Please take time to read your peers’ blog posts (they were due October 25). We’ll use these posts as a springboard for working on Essay 2 in the first half of class. Our focus is on thesis statements, evidence, and integrating location + voice.
In the last half of class, we turn to your 30 second documentary projects. I will share the project assignment, we will discuss the project, and brainstorm ideas.
Thursday: No class meeting…work on your essays!
This week, we’re reading a short digital booklet by Lisa Kalow, Visual Storytelling. This guide to visual documentary storytelling will help you connect what you’ve been reading and doing up to this point, with the documentary making you are now turning to in this course. The reading is especially helpful as a guide to shifting from reading and writing about documentary to making documentary and as you work this week on your 30 second documentary project. The assignment is here.
