We begin the course with the introductory chapter to Robert Coles, Doing Documentary Work. The reading is available as a pdf file in Canvas. Bring your reading–either printed out or on your laptop–to class on Thursday.
Also bring your reading notes. In particular, pay attention to, and make note of, the people, places, and events that are central to this chapter.
